Taliban forces seized the residence of Mohammad Zahir Aghbar, Afghanistan's ambassador to Tajikistan. The incident occurred in Kabul's Korta Chahori neighbourhood where armed members of the Taliban forcefully evacuated the occupants of the residence and took control of the property.
Mohammad Zahir Aghbar, who was residing outside the country due to his diplomatic duties in Tajikistan since his appointment five years ago, detailed the events leading up to the seizure.
The takeover of the ambassador’s residence is not an isolated event. In June 2023, radicals also targeted Aghbar's other property, a three-storey house located in Ruha village in Panjsher, setting it ablaze. Additionally, in January 2024, another incident involved the arson of the house belonging to Fazl Ahmad Manawi, a former justice minister and leader of the Afghan National Resistance Front, underscoring the ongoing violence and targeted attacks within Afghanistan.
These incidents are occurring under a backdrop of intensified actions by groups within Afghanistan, with various factions continuing to exercise force in their operations across the country.
