Turkmenistan's President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has ordered that the cultivation of wheat in accordance with agro-technical standards be strictly controlled, local TV channel Altyn Asyr reports.
This was said at a working meeting attended by Deputy Prime Minister Tangryguly Atakhallyev and regional leaders.
"In the fields of the country, in accordance with the task of growing a rich wheat harvest in the country, feeding with mineral fertilisers and vegetative irrigation of plants will continue".
In addition, the necessary measures are being taken to prepare receiving centres, elevators and transport vehicles.
The Ministry of Agriculture has previously reported that the annual wheat harvest plan in recent years has been 1.4mn tonnes from 690,000 hectares of land. Harvesters from companies such as John Deere, CLAAS and Case are involved in the seasonal campaign.
This year, new crop purchase prices have been set to encourage private agricultural producers. The cost of a tonne of wheat has risen 2.5 times to 2,000 manats.
