Women entrepreneurs are driving growth in Uzbekistan’s small business sector. According to the National Statistics Committee, as of January 1, 2025, 43,860 small businesses and micro-firms were led by women, a rise of 2,611, or 6.3%, compared to the same period last year.

By April 1, 2025, a total of 372,900 such enterprises were operating across the country, accounting for 84.3% of all enterprises and organizations. This surge highlights the expanding influence of women in Uzbekistan’s business landscape.
Tashkent city hosts the largest number of women-led businesses at 12,814, followed by Tashkent region with 5,598 and Samarkand region with 3,905.
Other regions with notable numbers include Karakalpakstan (2,866), Khorezm (2,673), Surkhandarya (2,656), and Bukhara (2,434). Smaller numbers were reported in Fergana (2,035), Navoi (2,025), Kashkadarya (1,879), Jizzakh (1,366), Syrdarya (1,252), Andijan (1,227), and Namangan (1,130).
As of August 1, 2025, Uzbekistan had 462,200 operating enterprises and organizations, excluding farms and dehkan farms. Of these, 392,400 were small enterprises and micro-firms.
Tashkent city recorded the highest number of enterprises with 104,190, followed by Tashkent region (44,397), Samarkand (40,336), Fergana (37,174), Kashkadarya (30,023), Bukhara (27,988), and Andijan (27,192).
By sector, most enterprises operated in trade (150,527), followed by industry (58,773), agriculture, forestry and fisheries (34,316), construction (29,232), and accommodation and food services (29,258).
Between January and July 2025, 51,200 new enterprises and organizations were registered, of which 47,800 were small enterprises and micro-firms.
The number of enterprises with foreign capital reached 16,609, including 4,094 joint ventures and 12,515 foreign-owned enterprises.
