Since the beginning of this year, trade between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan has reached $700mn, this was highlighted during President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s meeting with National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow at the Congress Center of the Awaza National Tourism Zone.

At the start of the talks, the Turkmen leader conveyed greetings and best wishes from President Serdar Berdimuhamedow to President Mirziyoyev. In response, the Uzbek President congratulated Turkmenistan’s leadership and people on the successful hosting of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in Awaza earlier this month.
The leaders discussed key issues aimed at further expanding Uzbek-Turkmen relations based on friendship, good-neighborliness, and strategic partnership.

Cooperation projects are advancing in industry, energy, transport, agriculture, water management, and other sectors. Work is also underway to launch the "Shavot-Toshovuz" trade zone this year.
They emphasized the importance of effective meetings of the Intergovernmental Commissions and the Business Council, as well as cultural events, as part of preparations for upcoming high-level meetings.
The leaders also exchanged views on the agenda of the Seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and noted the significance of negotiations in the "Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan" format for regional cooperation.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Turkmenistan on a working visit at the invitation of Turkmen Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow. He was welcomed at Turkmenbashi airport by senior officials and is set to hold bilateral talks and a trilateral meeting in the Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan format.
On August 4–5, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Turkmenistan, participating in the 3rd UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries and holding a trilateral meeting with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow and Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov to discuss regional cooperation and joint projects.
