To bolster the agricultural sector and fortify against the impacts of climate change, Akylbek Zhaparov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Administration of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, participated in a pivotal agricultural forum. The event, aimed at fostering a sustainable agro-industrial landscape within Kyrgyzstan, showcased a collaborative effort between government entities and international organizations.

"Today at this site there will be the signing of an agreement on the implementation of the project 'Sustainable Landscape Restoration in the Kyrgyz Republic' between the Cabinet of Ministers and the World Bank in the amount of $52.4mn," stated Zhaparov.

Zhaparov underlined the region's future challenges, including population growth, increased food demand, and heightened water consumption, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts to address these issues. Highlighting water as the lifeline of Central Asia, he advocated for the utilization of water and green energy as pivotal drivers for sustainable development across the region.

Moreover, Zhaparov provided insights into Kyrgyzstan's economic outlook, citing forecasts by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce for 2024, indicating a projected GDP of KGS 1.41bn ($15.8mn) and a real growth rate of 6.0%. Additionally, he outlined plans to enhance agricultural output by 2.8% in 2024, underscoring the importance of stability in food prices to safeguard citizens from global market fluctuations.

Looking ahead, Zhaparov unveiled plans by the Ministry of Agriculture, including the establishment of 11 Agricultural Technical Schools (MTS) nationwide and the launch of several large infrastructure projects and trade centers. These endeavors aim to bolster the agricultural sector and enhance trade and logistics capabilities within the country.
