Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Kuchkarov engaged in discussions with Mustafa Erkan Ozgur, founder of the esteemed Turkish jewelry firm, Gemetis on March 20, the government portal of Uzbekistan reported.
The focal point of the meeting revolved around exploring avenues for collaboration in advancing the jewelry sector within Uzbekistan. Acknowledging Türkiye’s extensive expertise in this domain, discussions underscored the importance of leveraging Türkiye’s experience, particularly in establishing specialized educational centers for jewelry, nurturing skilled professionals, and fostering an environment conducive to business growth.
The meeting convened key stakeholders from both Uzbekistan and Gemetis, including Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, Bobur Khodjaev; Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jamshed Urakov; Chairman of the National Bank of Foreign Economic Activities of Uzbekistan, Alisher Mirsoatov; and Shakhobiddin Ortikov, head of the State Quality Control Inspection under the Ministry of Economy and Finance. Gemetis was represented by Muhammad Emin Ozgur, Chief Executive Director, Murat Uzunoglu, Chairman's Advisor, and Mehmet Gazi Ozkan, an expert from "Gold Art Expert".
Emphasizing a commitment to a fruitful partnership, Gemetis expressed its intent to provide tailored proposals subsequent to a thorough examination of Uzbekistan's jewelry manufacturing landscape, raw material resources, and burgeoning jewelry hubs like Samarkand and Bukhara.
The convergence between Uzbekistan and Gemetis aims not only to bolster jewelry production capabilities but also to stimulate broader economic prosperity within the region.
Gemetis, formerly known as "Özgür Kuyumculuk" since its inception in 1962, has transitioned its focus to wedding rings and diamonds since 2020. Presently, it boasts a diverse portfolio of over 3,000 ring varieties, catering to markets not only within Türkiye but also across international borders.
