In the initial two months of 2024, Uzbekistan has witnessed a notable uptick in complaints regarding tax violations, with over 17,000 grievances reported through the "Tax Partner" system of the "Tax" mobile application, as revealed by the "Fiscal Analysis" Telegram channel of the Tax Committee.
The breakdown of the complaints reveals various infractions:
- 16,646 complaints were related to businesses failing to issue purchase receipts.
- 799 complaints indicated businesses refusing payment by plastic card.
- 35 complaints highlighted instances of businesses inflating purchase amounts for plastic card transactions.
- 399 complaints covered other types of tax violations.
Additionally, 7,703 complaints were returned either due to duplication or because investigations were already underway at the businesses implicated.
In response to the grievances, authorities conducted 4,288 mobile tax audits, confirming violations in 99.4% of cases. Furthermore, 3.5 billion soums ($279,582) were paid in 5,177 cases, amounting to 20% of the fines collected, to citizens who reported violations.
