In a stride towards advancing the field of criminology on an international scale, the Research Institute of Criminology in Uzbekistan embarked on a mission to strengthen collaboration with foreign counterparts in Türkiye, the National Information Agency of Uzbekistan reported. The high-profile delegation engaged in fruitful discussions with Yilmaz Çolak, the Head of the Turkish National Police Academy, resulting in an agreement to foster scientific cooperation.
The accord, reached after extensive talks, encompasses various collaborative initiatives. A key component is the establishment of a comprehensive scientific cooperation program in criminology, aiming to bridge expertise and insights between Uzbekistan and Türkiye. Additionally, both nations agreed to host a joint international forum, providing a platform for experts to exchange ideas and advancements in the field.
A notable feature of the collaboration is the planned creation of an international scientific and practical journal dedicated to criminology. This journal is expected to serve as a vital resource for researchers, academicians, and professionals in the field, fostering the exchange of knowledge and best practices.
Furthermore, the two nations committed to jointly implementing scientific and practical research projects, organizing internships for employees, and developing training programs and manuals tailored for the new generation in criminology. The establishment of a scientific advisory council aims to provide strategic guidance and oversight for collaborative efforts.
Highlighting the commitment to methodological excellence, the Turkish National Police Academy pledged assistance in establishing scientific cooperation not only with the Research Institute of Criminology but also with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) and other criminology research centers in Türkiye.
During the visit, members of the Uzbekistan delegation had the opportunity to acquaint themselves with Türkiye's approaches to road safety, touring facilities such as the Police Chiefs Training Center, and gaining valuable insights into the nation's law enforcement strategies.
About TİKA
The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) was established in 1992, following the dissolution of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), leading to the independence of Central Asian and Caucasian nations. TİKA has played a pivotal role in fostering strong relations between Turkey and countries in the region, characterized by shared language, social memory, and culture.
Over the years, TİKA's focus has evolved from short-term aid to long-term projects and cooperation based on development. Initially prioritizing the recognition of young Turkic countries in the international community, TİKA has been instrumental in various fields, including social, economic, and cultural initiatives. The agency's commitment to fostering sustainable development is evident through projects in education, health, restoration, agriculture, finance, tourism, and industry.
TİKA has expanded its presence across the Eurasian region, inaugurating multiple Programme Coordination Offices to coordinate activities. The agency's emphasis on education and culture in recent years reflects a strategic approach toward building a qualified, well-educated population for sustainable development.
