Ambassador Ulugbek Maksudov has successfully completed his diplomatic tenure in Saudi Arabia, Dunyo reports.
Ambassador Maksudov assumed his role in May 2018 and has since played a pivotal role in strengthening the bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia. During his farewell meeting with officials of the kingdom, it was acknowledged that the ties between the two nations have experienced significant enhancement in recent years under his leadership.
Notably, Saudi Arabia's investment in Uzbekistan's economy has surpassed the milestone of $30bn, demonstrating the deepening economic collaboration between the two countries. The forthcoming 3rd Tashkent International Investment Forum, scheduled for May 2-3, anticipates active engagement from Saudi Arabian businesses, highlighting the growing interest in Uzbekistan's investment potential.
In addition to his role as the ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ulugbek Maksudov also served as the permanent representative of Uzbekistan to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), headquartered in Jeddah, further bolstering Uzbekistan's engagement with the Islamic world.
The conclusion of Ambassador Maksudov's mission comes amidst other notable diplomatic transitions within Uzbekistan's diplomatic corps. Ambassador Fariddin Nasriyev presented his credentials to the President of Iran, signaling a new chapter in Uzbek-Iranian relations. Additionally, Uzbekistan welcomed a new ambassador from Algeria while bidding farewell to its Consul General in Dubai.
