During the BIT-2024 forum, Amir Erzhanov, Chairman of the Board of the International Alliance of Independent IT Experts, highlighted the significant movement of IT companies from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan. Erzhanov emphasized the trend of these companies relocating their production and successfully selling their IT products globally, Caravan.kz reports.
Tax Incentives Proposal
Erzhanov proposed the idea of implementing tax reductions for such companies, a suggestion echoed by other industry players. The consensus among market participants underscores the rapid expansion of the IT sector in Uzbekistan. Gulnura Alimkulova, representing a software distribution company, cited the flourishing business environment in Uzbekistan, especially witnessing robust market growth post-pandemic.
Uzbekistan is set to launch the Zero Risk program, aimed at further attracting IT companies by offering additional benefits. These benefits include free access to government facilities and equipment, along with partial reimbursement of expenses for salaries and staff training.
Support for Domestic IT Firms
Additionally, plans are underway to introduce a support program for domestic IT companies, facilitating their entry into the global market. This initiative involves financial backing for participation in international exhibitions and the recruitment of foreign experts to enhance competitiveness.
Despite the allure of lower operating costs in Uzbekistan, the average salary in the IT sector remains comparatively lower than in Kazakhstan. In Uzbekistan, IT professionals can expect salaries ranging from UZS 3.1mn ($247) to UZS 7.6mn ($605), while their counterparts in Kazakhstan command higher pay, ranging from UZS 5.4mn ($430) to 13.1mn ($1,043). Entry-level developers in Uzbekistan may receive up to UZS 4.4mn ($350), whereas in Kazakhstan, their salaries can reach up to UZS 8.6mn ($685).
