Uzbekistan welcomes new IT Park branch in Navoi
A new branch building of the IT Park has been inaugurated in the city of Navoi, Uzbekistan. The Ministry of Digital Development confirmed the opening through its press service, highlighting the growing importance of digital infrastructure in the region.
The grand opening ceremony, held on March 6, was graced by the presence of Erkin Kamalov, the deputy khokim (mayor) of the region, and Fayzulla Aripzhanov, the deputy director of the technology park.
Additionally, the complex includes several auxiliary premises designed to enhance collaboration and productivity. A co-working area has been set up to cater to young enthusiasts interested in programming, providing them with a collaborative space to exchange ideas and work on projects. Furthermore, a meeting room has been allocated for employees of resident companies, facilitating discussions and decision-making processes.
The Ministry of Digital Development highlighted the importance of the new branch by noting the presence of several IT Park residents already assigned to the facility. These include prominent developers such as Softex, IT Dataware—an exporter of IT services—business outsourcing company Xiradmand Zarafshon, and educational firms Sensorika and Susys Academy.
As of 2023, Uzbekistan's IT Park hosted 1,652 resident companies, yielding $1 bn in revenue, with $344 mn in exports. This sector employed over 26,000 individuals, reflecting significant youth interest in IT education. On January 31, 2024, the Ministry of Digital Technologies organized the "IT Park 2024: Achievements & Vision" event, aligning with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's goal of achieving a $5 bn export volume of IT services by 2030.
In 2023, the combined revenue of IT Park residents exceeded $1 bn, marking a 1.9-fold increase from the previous year. Export earnings reached $344 mn, with significant growth observed in IT outsourcing, product exports, and BPO services. To support local companies and attract foreign investment, IT Park underwent restructuring, focusing on export-oriented strategies. New programs like "Zero Risk" and "Local2Global" aim to boost export figures by incentivizing companies to enter international markets.
Furthermore, Uzbekistan plans to establish the International Digital Technology Center, providing an attractive environment for foreign companies and aligning with the government's target of creating 100,000 jobs and increasing the number of foreign companies-residents to 1,000 by 2024.
Opened on July 24, 2019, Uzbekistan welcomed its inaugural IT Park in Tashkent. Since its inception, the IT Park has swiftly borne fruit, witnessing the emergence of 28 new startups, the initiation of approximately a dozen information technology projects, and the facilitation of numerous training sessions, workshops, and meetups aimed at igniting youth interest in the field and enhancing computer literacy across the population.
