The Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), Fatih Birol, met with Turkmenistan's Ambassador to France, Maksat Chariev, at the Agency's headquarters in Paris.
Birol noted that the IEA highly values the last initiative of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, to join the Global Methane Pledge, as well as his other international environmental initiatives announced at the Climate Change Summit (COP-28) in Dubai, UAE.
"He expressed the IEA's readiness to provide comprehensive support to Turkmenistan in implementing projects significant to the global agenda," said a press release from the Turkmen diplomatic mission in France.
Special attention was given to the role of renewable energy sector development, increased energy efficiency, and methane emission reduction in ensuring environmental security and strengthening the region's energy independence.
Chariev invited Birol to participate in the upcoming International Forum for Attracting Foreign Investment into Turkmenistan’s Energy Sector (TEIF 2024), scheduled for April 24-25, 2024, in Paris.
The event is expected to attract representatives of leading energy, construction, transport and communications companies, international organisations and global financial institutions.
