Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met Saudi Arabia's Deputy Minister of Investment Badr Al-Badr in Ashgabat.
According to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, the two sides discussed the prospects of bilateral relations. "Special attention was paid to the work of the joint intergovernmental Turkmen-Saudi commission on trade and economic cooperation."
Experts told Daryo that trade, transport and communications, chemical and textile industries, agriculture and the oil and gas complex are among the promising areas of business partnership between the two countries.
The Saudi press has previously reported that Saudi Aramco and Somo Al Mamlakah are exploring support for the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, the construction of which began in 2015.
The Saudi Fund for Development has financed the purchase of pipes to lay the Turkmen section of TAPI. The contract was signed with the Saudi-German Global Pipe Company.
