Gerede Jelatin, a prominent Turkish enterprise, is gearing up to establish a production facility in Uzbekistan, as revealed by the press service of Uzcharmsanoat on February 8.
Uzbekistan's Uzcharmsanoat association and a delegation of leather and footwear enterprises recently embarked on a business visit to the Gerede district in Turkey, marking a significant step in fostering bilateral trade and economic relations between the two nations. The visit paved the way for constructive negotiations and the establishment of new joint projects between representatives of the business communities.
During the visit, members of the association engaged in discussions with the Gerede District Chamber of Commerce and Industry, focusing on the development of bilateral trade and economic ties. Uzbek delegates provided comprehensive information about reforms in the leather and footwear industry, investment potential, export opportunities, as well as systems of benefits and preferences implemented in Uzbekistan.
The delegation had the opportunity to visit production plants and familiarize themselves with Turkey's advanced technologies and innovations in leather processing. Environmental sustainability was a key focus area during these visits, emphasizing the importance of responsible environmental practices in industrial operations.
Additionally, an entrepreneurs' forum held at the Gerede District Chamber of Commerce and Industry provided a platform for Turkish partners to learn about Uzbekistan's leather industry and its prospects. Following the forum, B2B meetings facilitated effective agreements to expand cooperation between businesses of both countries. Notably, Uzbek KFK and Turkish Doner Deri explored opportunities for joint production of shoes, with plans to sign an agreement on project implementation by the end of the year.
Earlier reports suggested that Uzbekistan was considering the placement of leather shoes and textiles in Auchan hypermarkets across Russia, indicating the country's intent to expand its export footprint in key international markets.
