On Friday 9 February at 01:49 UTC, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.4 occurred in the Caspian Sea 94km from Turkmenbashi, Turkmenistan. According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 47.4km.
The city of Turkmenbashi is home to an international port, the country's largest oil refinery and the Awaza resort.
