The next batch of anti-hepatitis C drugs has been delivered from Egypt to Uzbekistan, Dunyo reports. This delivery is part of a larger initiative to combat hepatitis C in the country.
Delivery details
On January 27, the Egyptian government delivered the latest batch of “Sofosbuvir-400mg” medicine, a widely used treatment for hepatitis C. The batch consists of 6,720 pieces of “Sofosbuvir-400mg” drugs, with a total value of more than $66,000. These drugs will be distributed to patients after treatment by the Virology Research Institute under the Ministry of Health.
Agreement on drug supply
By 2025, the Egyptian government has reached an agreement on the supply of 800,000 units of “Daclatasvir” and “Sofosbuvir” against hepatitis C, and “Entecavir” against hepatitis B. The total cost of these supplies is estimated to be $4.2mn.
Until today, these drugs, the total value of which is equal to $696,000, have been sent to Uzbekistan step by step. This forms part of a larger effort to combat hepatitis C in the country, which has seen a high prevalence of the disease.
