In the first six months of 2025, Uzbek citizens earned UZS 63.5bn ($5mn) by supplying solar-generated electricity to the national grid, according to the State Tax Committee.

A total of 28,538 individuals received subsidies under the government-backed “Sunny House” program, which promotes household solar energy production. The total subsidy amount reached nearly UZS 63.5bn ($5mn), with more than a third of the payments disbursed in June alone.
The Khorezm region led in both the number of recipients and total payments. Over 9,670 residents received UZS 19.1 billion soums in subsidies during the six-month period— UZS 16.5bn ($1.3mn) of which were distributed in the second quarter. Karakalpakstan followed with UZS 9.7bn ($768,317), while residents of Tashkent received UZS 4.9bn ($388,089) in total.
The program has grown significantly since its launch. In all, 93,900 subsidies were issued in the first half of 2025, with 26,500 distributed in June.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev introduced the household solar subsidy initiative in February 2023. Payments are processed through the Soliq mobile application and transferred to the bank cards of solar panel owners by the 25th day of the following month.

Since April 1, 2023, participants in the "Solar Home" program have been eligible to receive a subsidy of UZS 1,000 for every kilowatt-hour of electricity they supply to the national grid.
To further encourage adoption, a presidential decree in August 2024 exempted solar panel components from import duties and value-added tax (VAT), helping level the playing field between domestic manufacturers and foreign suppliers.
In 2024, over 10,800 people received support under the program, with total payments amounting to UZS 12.18bn ($964,752).
Earlier it was reported that, in July 2025, Uzbekistan reached a new milestone in its renewable energy transition, with solar and wind power plants generating a record 1.246bn kWh of electricity—accounting for 17% of the country’s total monthly output, the highest share to date.
A total of 11 solar and 4 wind power plants are currently in operation, with a combined capacity of 4,119 megawatts. Of the July output, 760.9mn kWh came from solar energy and 485.4mn kWh from wind.
