Tashkent recently received the 18th shipment of the anti-hepatitis C medication "Sofosbuvir-400 mg" from Egypt, consisting of 5,600 packages, Dunyo reports.
As per the announcement from the Uzbekistan Embassy in Cairo, these medications have been allocated to the Research Institute of Virology under the Ministry of Health. Patients undergoing treatment in this medical facility will benefit from these medications without any cost.
This contribution of 800,000 units of the medicine, provided by the Egyptian government, will effectively cater to the medical needs of around 133,000 patients in Uzbekistan.
The effort is part of a humanitarian initiative that follows the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Egypt on February 20-21, 2023, and the resulting agreements made with the Egyptian Ministry of Health. This aid initiative is pivotal in supporting hepatitis patients and facilitating their treatment, all funded by the state.
The delivery of these medications commenced on April 29 and the previous 17th batch of drugs was received on November 4.
