Following a meeting in Tokyo, Japan, between Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Ken Saito, the parties signed a number of documents aimed at "concretising initiatives".
Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry said the list includes Memoranda of Cooperation on the construction of a second complex on the basis of the existing gasoline from gas plant in the Akhal region and on bringing the urea plant in the Mary region to its design capacity.
"At the same time, the importance of long-term development of partnership was emphasised, given the existence of political will, wide economic potential and mutual understanding."
The two sides expressed readiness to seek new opportunities for co-operation, especially in the field of energy transition, including hydrogen production and transportation.
Special attention was also paid to the preparation of a Roadmap in the field of decarbonisation, a joint lending mechanism and the introduction of an E-commerce system.
Meredov also met with Chief Cabinet Secretary of Ministers of Japan Yoshimasa Hayashi. The sides discussed issues of organizing the first Summit of Heads of State of the “Central Asia + Japan” dialogue.
Japanese companies have implemented a number of major projects in the local market, including the construction of chemical plants, gas turbine power plants, as well as the supply of machinery and cars.
