The Chess Federation of Turkmenistan informs that 24-year-old international master from Ashgabat Saparmurat Atabaev came out the winner of the elite international chess tournament "White Elephant", which was held in Turkey.
"The competition was held under the Swiss system in 7 rounds, during which our compatriot won six victories and one game was drawn. As a result, Saparmurat scored 6.5 points and surpassed Turkish International Master Tarkhan Adar, who managed to draw with him".
Twenty-seven chess players competed for prizes, nine of them titled.
Atabayev fulfilled all the requirements of the grandmaster title last year by winning the Rocking-2023 Masters chess festival in the Uzbek capital in December.
