A delegation from Turkmenistan led by Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov is on a working visit to Japan from 22-23 January.
The country's Foreign Ministry reports that "it is planned to hold meetings in the Government, Parliament, relevant ministries and state agencies, with the leadership of financial and export credit agencies, leading Japanese companies".
The agenda of the upcoming meetings will focus on issues related to building trade and economic partnership and deepening scientific and educational ties.
Experts told Daryo that business cooperation between the two countries was boosted by former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's official visit to Ashgabat in October 2015, which resulted in the signing of investment agreements worth $18bn.
Japanese companies have implemented large-scale projects here in the gas chemical industry and gas turbine power industry, as well as supplied specialised equipment for projects in the fuel and energy complex, transport and water resources management.
