Uzbekistan is poised to make a significant leap in the automotive industry by initiating the production of Geely electric vehicles, a move that aligns with the nation’s sustainable development goals. The Tashkent region is set to collaborate with a prominent Chinese automobile manufacturer to establish an electric car production facility.
The project will unfold in two phases: the construction of an assembly shop followed by the commencement of full-scale production, slated for 2024. This strategic initiative stems from a preliminary agreement reached during high-level bilateral talks in China between the regional leadership of Tashkent and representatives from Shandong province.
Geely, an established and rapidly growing automotive brand under the Geely Auto company, part of the Geely Holding Group founded in 1986, is expanding its presence in Uzbekistan. The brand plans to introduce its comprehensive model range, including the Coolray and Tugella crossovers, the Monjaro and Okavango SUVs, the Emgrand sedan, and the Geometry E, by the end of the current year.
Asaka Motors, a local automotive dealer, is gearing up to offer Geely electric vehicles with an official factory warranty, backed by a fully stocked warehouse of original spare parts and a team of skilled technicians to ensure top-notch service for vehicle owners.
This development is a testament to Uzbekistan’s commitment to fostering innovation and sustainability within its automotive sector. It also reflects the broader trend of embracing electric vehicles as a cornerstone of modern transportation, contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions and the promotion of environmental stewardship.
