Uzbekistan's State Statistics Committee has revealed that between January and June of 2023, the country imported over 5,403 electric vehicles from ten countries.
Most vehicles came from China, totaling $167mn in imports. This marks a 4,289 increase, almost five times the amount of electric vehicle imports in the same period last year.
The top countries importing electric vehicles to Uzbekistan in the first six months of the year were China with 4,956, followed by Hong Kong with 348, Germany with 57, UAE with 16, Republic of Korea with 12, and the USA with 7.
Earlier, Daryo revealed that Uzbekistan manufactured 161,610 passenger cars in the first half of this year, with Cobalt being the most-produced vehicle.
Additionally, UzAuto Motors revealed plans to organize the decentralized assembly of Chevrolet Onix vehicles at the SaryarkaAvtoProm plant in the Kostanay region of Kazakhstan. This information was disclosed during a working group meeting composed of deputy heads of governments.
