Uzbekistan has emerged as one of the top three preferred winter destinations for Russian citizens, according to a study by Yandex.Travel reported by Lenta.ru. The country secured the second spot in popularity, with airfare costs for Russian tourists estimated at 31,000 rubles ($336.5 according to the Central Bank of the Russian Federation).
Thailand claimed the top spot, with a trip costing 77,000 rubles per person ($835.8). Bangkok and Phuket in Thailand were also recognized as the most visited cities. Other destinations in the top five included Turkey ($423.3), India ($575.3), and Azerbaijan ($303.9).
Earlier Daryo reported that the Tashkent International Tourism Fair "Tourism on the Silk Road" (TITF) is scheduled to take place in Tashkent from November 15 to 17, 2023. This event aims to connect travel enthusiasts and professionals in the tourism sector worldwide, serving as a platform for inspiration and numerous opportunities. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan states that TITF will be organized by various entities, including the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, the Committee of Tourism, the State Unitary Enterprise "National PR-Centre," and the company "Team & Co Group."
The State Statistics Committee revealed that nearly 630 thousand Russian citizens visited Uzbekistan in the first 10 months of the year, with over 200 thousand arriving for tourism purposes. The surge in tourism interest aligns with Uzbekistan's efforts to position itself as a desirable destination for international travelers.
