"Uzbekistan Railways" has announced its intention to supply Kyrgyzstan with cargo wagons for efficient transportation services. This move aims to enhance tourism development by launching a passenger train connecting Tashkent and Issyk-Kul.
According to the press release from "Uzbekistan Railways," discussions took place on October 31 between representatives of "Uzbekistan Railways" and "Kyrgyz Temir Zholu" regarding rail freight operations between the two countries.
As part of the agreement, a seasonal passenger train will be introduced along the Tashkent-Balykchy-Tashkent route. This initiative is expected to improve passenger connectivity and contribute to the growth of the region's tourism potential, particularly around Lake Issyk-Kul.
Both parties have committed to expediting the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, recognizing its strategic significance in bolstering the transportation infrastructure.
It was previously reported that "Uzbekistan Railways" implemented a price increase for railway tickets starting from November 1. The fare portion of the ticket cost has risen by 44%. There has been an even greater price hike for Afrosiyob high-speed train tickets, with an increase exceeding 60%.
