Iran’s new Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ali Mojtaba Roozbahani has held a meeting with Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian prior to starting his mission, IRNA reports. The diplomat has previously headed his country's missions to Kyrgyzstan and the Philippines.
The minister called on the new ambassador to pursue the implementation of mutual agreements, adding that Tehran is after fostering ties with Ashgabat.
The two countries are neighbours on the Caspian Sea and share a land border of 1,148km.
Experts told Daryo that Iran and Turkmenistan have jointly implemented a number of major projects. In addition to cross-border gas pipelines and power lines, the Dostluk (Friendship) Dam and the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran transnational railway have been built through joint efforts.
