The delegation representing the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan conducted an official visit to the city of Urumqi as part of their ongoing visit to the People's Republic of China.
On October 9, Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov of Uzbekistan convened a meeting with Ma Xingrui, Communist Party Secretary of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. During the meeting, both sides acknowledged the significant progress made in enhancing the enduring friendship between their nations, as well as the comprehensive strategic partnership that has been developed in the political, trade, economic, and cultural spheres. Notably, interregional cooperation has flourished alongside national-level interactions.
The parties underscored the mutual benefits of continuing and expanding such collaboration. A pivotal role in bolstering bilateral ties and augmenting trade volume was attributed to the "Shuanghe Uzbekistan Agricultural Industrial Park" (SHUAR). Currently, Uzbekistan imports cutting-edge technology, equipment, and various products from this Chinese region, while it exports textiles, copper, mineral fertilizers, agricultural goods, and more to SHUAR. Furthermore, both nations saw the potential for cooperative efforts in the field of "smart" agriculture.
In May of the current year, during a high-level meeting in Xi An, agreements were reached concerning investment projects totaling approximately $25bn. At present, these agreements are materializing into promising projects across diverse sectors such as metallurgy, energy, and agriculture, in collaboration with several SHUAR companies.
Another critical dimension of SHUAR for Uzbekistan lies in its role as a vital link within the transportation and logistics network connecting the two countries. In this context, the imperative to expedite the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway was emphasized. Additionally, both parties recognized the significance of advancing multimodal transport corridors, namely the "China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan" and "China-Tajikistan-Uzbekistan" routes.
The discussions also delved into prospects for further collaboration in fields like science, education, workforce development, and cultural and humanitarian exchanges. As part of the Uzbekistan government delegation's visit to SHUAR, meetings with leaders of prominent Chinese enterprises such as "Xinjiang Hualing Industry & Trade Group," "China Southern Power Grid," "China National Chemical Engineering," "Amer International Group," "TBEA," and other major companies took place. These meetings aimed at reinforcing bilateral cooperation across various domains.
