Uzbekistan has received its fifteenth shipment of anti-hepatitis C medications from Egypt. On September 23, Uzbekistan Airways transported 6,240 Sofosbuvir-400mg drugs from Sharm el-Sheikh to Tashkent, as part of humanitarian aid provided by the Egyptian government. These medicines are distributed to patients who have undergone treatment at the Virology Research Institute under the Ministry of Health.
Additionally, there are plans for the Minister of Health of Egypt to visit Cairo in February 2023 to discuss the implementation of the memorandum of cooperation signed with Uzbekistan SSV and the prospects of implementing mutually beneficial projects, as well as mutual cooperation in the fight against hepatitis C. He also wants to come to Tashkent with a practical trip for further expansion of cooperation.
Egypt has made substantial progress in combating hepatitis B and C viruses, with the entire population reportedly recovering from these diseases. Egyptian scientists are willing to share their expertise and specialized diagnostic equipment with their Uzbek counterparts.
The delivery of these medications commenced on April 29, with the most recent 14th batch arriving on August 19.
