The latest report from Kazakhstan's Prosecutor General's Office reveals a significant drop in crime rates. According to the document, there has been a 15.2% decrease in overall crime, and the numbers have reduced in all categories of criminal activities.
Serious crimes have decreased by 4.1%, and moderate gravity crimes have dropped by 17.9%.
The statistics also show a decrease of 9.8% in minor gravity offenses. Moreover, the procurators have taken necessary measures to supervise and investigate criminal proceedings, which resulted in discontinuing unwarranted proceedings against 57 individuals.
Besides, 671 persons were released from custody by prosecutors.
The report also highlights a 14% decrease in violations of citizens' constitutional rights during criminal proceedings. Nine individuals have been acquitted due to the acts of procurators.
In August, the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kazakhstan reported a concerning increase of 11% in juvenile delinquency over the past seven months. The most common offenses among the youth are theft, petty theft, robbery, and hooliganism. The lack of parental supervision appears to be a significant factor contributing to this trend. As a consequence, more than 64,000 parents have faced administrative accountability this year alone, as stated by Leyla Alipbayeva, Senior Inspector for Special Assignments of the Administrative Police Committee.
