Kazakhstan's Ministry of Internal Affairs reported an 11% increase in juvenile delinquency over seven months, with theft, petty theft, robbery, and hooliganism being the most common offenses.
Lack of parental control over children's behavior is a leading cause, leading to over 64,000 parents facing administrative responsibility this year, as per the Senior Inspector for Special Assignments of the Administrative Police Committee, Leyla Alipbayeva.
"Nearly 1,500 business owners have been prosecuted for letting underage individuals remain in entertainment venues during late hours", she said.
During the same period, more than 2,500 teenagers were taken to Juvenile Adaptation Centers, and over 6,000 parents were held administratively responsible for neglecting their children.
"Prevention measures currently cover more than 4,000 minors registered with the police," the speaker assured.
