During his speech at the Eastern Economic Forum held in Vladivostok, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia is actively engaged in the development of weaponry based on innovative principles.
President Putin stated, "When we consider matters of security, it is evident that weapons founded on novel physical principles will play a pivotal role in safeguarding any nation's security in the near future. We are well aware of this and actively pursuing such endeavors."
The specific nature of the weapons in question was not elaborated upon by the Russian President. TASS has noted that weaponry based on new physical principles typically involves the advancement of entirely new or previously untapped technologies. Such categories of weaponry often encompass laser-based, infrasound, and radio-frequency technologies.
In a significant address to the Federal Assembly in March 2018, President Putin dedicated a substantial portion of his speech to unveiling cutting-edge Russian weaponry. During this presentation, he specifically highlighted notable developments such as the Sarmat missile, the "Kinjal" (the "Dagger") hypersonic system, intercontinental underwater drones, and a novel cruise missile equipped with a nuclear power source, boasting an "infinite range" and an "unpredictable flight trajectory."
Official reports indicate that some of these advanced weaponry systems have already been deployed, while others are still undergoing development and refinement.
