The Vatican's representative for peace negotiations in Ukraine, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, is embarking on a three-day visit to Beijing, China, from September 13 to September 15.
According to Euronews, during his visit, he will meet with high-ranking Chinese officials. This visit is part of the Pope's mission to support humanitarian initiatives and seek solutions for a just and peaceful world.
Cardinal Zuppi's main objective in China is to assist in the repatriation of Ukrainian children who were taken to Russia. Previously, he held negotiations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv and also visited Moscow earlier this summer, where he met with the Russian children's ombudsman, Maria Lvova-Belova.
It's worth noting that the International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Lvova-Belova and Russian President Vladimir Putin, suspecting them of being involved in the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia.
Earlier Daryo reported that Pope Francis conveyed a special greeting to the people of China, referring to them as "noble," during a religious ceremony in Mongolia, Euronews reported.
This gesture was seen as a call to the Chinese authorities to respect religious minorities.
