Kazakhstan's Ministry of Emergency Situations has reported that the country is conducting a two-day seismic exercise involving member countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).
The training is focused on preparing for earthquake emergencies and is part of the "Jer-2023" exercise being conducted in the country.
Rescue services from other countries, including Azerbaijan, Hungary, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan, are participating alongside Kazakhstan's civil protection services.
The central hub for organizing and executing rescue missions is located in Almaty.
'The main objective of the exercise is to increase the level of training of citizens, to spread a culture of security, and to strengthen the readiness of civilian defense forces to act in the event of earthquakes as part of the exercise residents of seismically dangerous areas conducted training on seismic safety. We call on all residents to actively participate. During the training, people learn the rules of how to behave in the face of severe earthquakes and work on skills such as identifying safe havens, assembling in reception centers for affected populations, and identifying safe areas. The exercise 'Jer-2023' will last two days,'
