In the Donetsk region, volunteers from the humanitarian organization Road to Relief were attacked by Russian soldiers, resulting in two fatalities and severe injuries to others. The organization reported this devastating event on their Instagram page, shedding light on the perilous conditions faced by those providing aid in conflict zones.
On the morning of September 10, a group of volunteers departed from Slavyansk, en route to Bakhmut. The team comprised four individuals. As they passed through Chasov Yar, their vehicle was suddenly ambushed by Russian soldiers. The attack led to a direct impact, causing the vehicle to overturn and catch fire.
Tragically, two volunteers lost their lives in the attack. Canadian volunteer Anthony Ignat and Spanish volunteer Emma Igual, who also served as the director of Road to Relief, succumbed to the incident. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain, Jose Manuel Albares, confirmed Emma Igual's death. Two other volunteers, Ruben Mavik from Germany and Johan Mathias Thier from Sweden, sustained severe injuries and burns from metal fragments during the attack. They are currently undergoing medical treatment in a hospital.

Road to Relief, established in March 2022, has been actively involved in providing humanitarian aid to residents of Ukrainian settlements situated on the front lines of the conflict. Their mission includes not only delivering essential supplies but also evacuating people from the combat zone, exemplifying their dedication to assisting those affected by the ongoing conflict.
The tragic attack on Road to Relief volunteers highlights the dangers faced by humanitarian workers in conflict zones. The loss of two dedicated individuals, Anthony Ignat and Emma Igual, is a somber reminder of the sacrifices made by those striving to alleviate the suffering of others amidst challenging circumstances.
