Turkmenistan is developing cooperation with the countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). This political structure includes Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines.
Secretary-General of ASEAN Kao Kim Hourn held a meeting with Ambassador of Turkmenistan Muhammetnyyaz Mashalov exchange views on ways to promote bilateral relations, ASEAN reports.
Mashalov heads his country's embassy in Malaysia.
Experts told Daryo that Malaysia's Petronas Carigali has been most active in the local market. The company has invested more than $11bn in the development of the Turkmen part of the Caspian Sea since 1996.
At this stage, negotiations are underway to extend the Production Sharing Agreement until 2038.
