Between January and June 2023, Azerbaijan purchased 732mn cubic meters of natural gas from Turkmenistan, a substantial increase from 292mn the previous year, the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan reports.
The value of these deliveries was estimated at $109.18mn, representing a rise from $31.8mn the prior year.
In 2022, Azerbaijan initiated swap purchases of Turkmen gas via Iran, which were reimbursable. The trilateral contract is indefinite and allows for the delivery of up to 3.0-4.0bn cubic metres of gas annually.
In the past year, Azerbaijan procured 857mn cubic meters of gas from Turkmenistan, 93.2mn from Russia, and 66mn from Iran.
