Uzbekistan to send workers to U.S. agriculture under H-2A agreement

Uzbekistan has reached an agreement to establish long-term cooperation with the United States to send workers to the agricultural sector under the H-2A seasonal employment program, according to Dunyo News Agency.

The agreement was discussed during a meeting between Uzbekistan’s ambassador to the US, Furkat Sidikov, and Todd Miller, director of Head Honchos LLC, a recruitment company specializing in foreign labor for US agriculture.

Talks focused on expanding organized labor migration, particularly within the H-2A program, which allows US employers to hire foreign workers for seasonal agricultural jobs.

According to the American side, Uzbekistan has recently been included in the list of countries eligible to participate in the program, a move welcomed by recruitment firms and agricultural producers.

Miller noted that the decision has generated strong interest among U.S. employers facing persistent labor shortages in agriculture. He described Uzbek workers as a reliable workforce, highlighting their diligence, discipline, and strong work ethic.

The sides agreed to develop a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership, with the company expressing readiness to manage the full recruitment cycle in line with international standards — from candidate selection and verification to documentation and job placement.

As part of the cooperation, training programs will also be introduced for Uzbek applicants, covering English language skills, labor law basics, workplace culture, and agricultural practices.

Head Honchos LLC, founded in 2000 and based in San Antonio, Texas, places over 3,000 foreign workers annually and cooperates with around 400 farms across the US.

The agreement follows earlier efforts to expand labor migration opportunities. In March, Uzbekistan’s Migration Agency signed a separate deal with a U.S.-based labor organization to facilitate seasonal agricultural employment for Uzbek citizens.
