In a recent meeting, the Taliban's Minister of Justice, Abdul Hakim Haqqani, declared a ban on all political parties in Afghanistan, Daryo correspondent reports from Tajikistan.
Haqqani justified this decision by stating that such activities do not align with Sharia law and are not in the best interest of the nation.
Before the Taliban's seizure of power, 73 political parties were officially registered in the landlocked nation situated at the intersection of Central and South Asia.
However, since then, most of their leaders have fled the country and now reside in other nations.
