In Afghanistan, the Taliban publicly assaulted nine individuals across the provinces of Faryab, Jowzjan, and Nangarhar, on August 13, a correspondent from Daryo reported from Afghanistan.
According to the Taliban's Supreme Court, four of them were convicted of "illicit relations" and "subversive activities," and each received sentences of 29-30 lashes. However, the court did not specify how many women were among the accused.
Earlier, Daryo reported that the Taliban authorities have disclosed information regarding the number of inmates in Afghan prisons, shedding light on the composition of the incarcerated population.
It has been revealed by authorities that Afghan prisons currently hold a total of 16,000 inmates, encompassing a wide spectrum of offenses. Of significant note is that over 2,000 of these detainees are women and children, highlighting the diverse composition of the imprisoned community. Additionally, the provided data shows that there are 16 foreign nationals among those incarcerated, with 15 of them being women.
