The vibrant city of Almaty is gearing up to become the epicenter of the film industry as it prepares to host the inaugural Eurasian Film Market (EFM) from September 11 to 14, Astana Times reported.
Renowned for its diverse and captivating landscapes, Almaty has been a favored location for numerous film productions. This prominence, coupled with the concentration of key film organizations within the city, has led to its selection as the perfect host for the premiere edition of EFM.
Designed to be a recurring international gathering, the Eurasian Film Market aims to establish and strengthen ties between the film sectors of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan – with both Europe and the broader global film community.
Hélène Haug, co-founder, and director of EFM shared her thoughts on this event.
"The Eurasian Film Market aims to serve as the platform that not only unites professionals in the CIS film industry and creates optimal conditions for film business within the region, but also forges robust cooperative bridges between the CIS countries and the global film community," Hélène Haug expressed.
This ambitious goal reflects the aspiration to foster a dynamic exchange of ideas, resources, and expertise.
The event is expected to attract a diverse array of participants, including organizers of international film festivals, prolific producers, dynamic production companies, distribution giants, sales agents, leading cinema chains, and innovative streaming platforms. Additionally, foreign organizations dedicated to promoting their respective country's film industry, alongside representatives from foreign funds and selective fund programs that offer support for film production and distribution in the region, will be present.
With its remarkable potential to bring together the brightest minds and most influential players in the world of cinema, the Eurasian Film Market is poised to serve as a catalyst for collaboration, innovation, and global partnerships within the film industry.
