In a significant step towards enhancing international cooperation for sustainable development, the Kazakhstan Agency of International Development (KazAID) and Lithuania's Central Project Management Agency (CPVA) have formally solidified their collaboration. A memorandum of understanding and cooperation was signed on August 8 in Vilnius, marking a pivotal moment for joint projects and regional development assistance efforts.
KazAID's press service reported that the memorandum emphasizes the shared commitment of Kazakhstan and Lithuania to foster mutual growth through the exchange of experiences and the execution of collaborative projects. The focus of these endeavors is set on strengthening the sustainable development of Central Asian nations, reaffirming the parties' dedication to regional progress.
During their visit to Vilnius, representatives from KazAID engaged with Lithuania's Foreign Ministry and various state and non-profit institutions. The discussions centered around broadening the scope of external partnerships and heightening international awareness of Kazakhstan's robust sustainable development policy. These deliberations take on added significance in light of president Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's remarks during the second meeting of the National Qurultai (Congress) in Turkistan on June 17, where he emphasized the need to leverage KazAID's potential to showcase the rich culture and history of Kazakhstan.
KazAID, established on December 15, 2020, operates as a national agency for official development assistance and operates under the aegis of Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The agency's mission is to drive impactful initiatives that contribute to sustainable development within and beyond Kazakhstan's borders.
CPVA, founded in 2003 through the merger of the Central Financial and Contract Management and the City Development Fund, assumes responsibility for the management of diverse programs and projects. These projects are financed by sources such as the state budget, the European Union, and various other international donors, underscoring Lithuania's commitment to contributing to positive change on a global scale.
The memorandum of understanding and cooperation between KazAID and CPVA signals a promising collaboration that holds the potential to pave the way for transformative development projects and mutual growth.
