The Asian Development Bank (ADB) reports it is currently preparing projects in the health, finance, transport, and energy sectors.
"ADB’s forthcoming country partnership strategyfor Turkmenistan covering 2024–2028 will supportmarket connectivity, private sector development,human capital building, and economic reforms."
To date, ADB has committed 13 public sector loans, grants, and technicalassistance totaling $632.6mn to Turkmenistan.
ADB helps the government improve transport infrastructureconnectivity, diversify the economy, develop human capital and the private sector,and strengthen policy making capacity, the information said.
Experts told Daryo that before the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan (in August 2021), ADB was actively lobbying for the gas pipeline project Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI).
However, at this stage, the regional financial institution has suspended its work in Afghanistan pending international recognition of the Islamic Emirate's government.
