Presidents of Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Emomoli Rakhmon and Shavkat Mirziyoyev are opening a summit in Ashgabat August 4.
This is the first summit meeting in such a format, the Turkmen Dovlet Habalary (TDH) state agency reports.
Prospects for co-operation in such areas as ecology, trade, transport, logistics and energy are expected to be discussed.
"The Ashgabat Summit is intended to lay the foundation for further development of mutually beneficial multifaceted co-operation that meets the interests of the well-being of both the three participating countries and the region as a whole."
In particular, special importance is attached to ensuring environmental security, adaptation to climate change, rational water use, introduction of innovative "green" technologies, the Aral Sea problem.
The TDH commentary says that Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan have great reserves for increasing the volume of mutual trade turnover, developing industrial cooperation and implementing joint projects.
There are broad prospects for joining efforts to develop multimodal transport and transit and logistics infrastructure along the transcontinental East-West and North-South routes.
Another relevant vector of partnership is the energy sector, which also has a solid potential, TDH emphasises.
