In France, the abandonment of the systematic printing of paper receipts has taken effect, Euronews has reported.
This measure also extends to bank card receipts and was introduced as a measure to protect the environment.
However, the decision has faced criticism from those who believe that paper receipts serve as an essential tool for managing family budgets for many French citizens.
In reality, paper receipts will not completely disappear; those who wish can still request their printing, particularly for cases where they need to verify prices or resolve doubts. Additionally, certain businesses, like restaurants, hotels, hair salons, garages, etc., will continue to be obligated to provide printed receipts.
This new policy was enforced on August 1. On the same day, French consumers also experienced yet another increase in regulated electricity tariffs, seeing a rise of 10%. This increase impacts both households and small businesses and is part of the government's gradual efforts to ease the strain on state finances.
