In a recent meeting chaired by Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Yerulan Zhamaubayev, Kazakh officials addressed the implementation of the G4 City project in the Almaty Region. The G4 City special economic zone aims to become a thriving economic and global tourism center, strategically positioned along the new Silk Road.
The Prime Minister's press service reported that the meeting highlighted the immense potential for development in the G4 City region. With its strategic location and ambitious plans, G4 City is expected to transform into an integrated city, accommodating over 2.2mn residents. Furthermore, the project is projected to generate employment opportunities for more than 1.1mn individuals by the year 2050.
During the meeting, Nurlan Toimbek, the executive director of the Astana International Financial Centre, emphasized the need for the development of specific regulations to govern various aspects of the G4 City project. These regulations, known as the G4 City Act, will define the areas of activity subject to internal regulations. The remaining aspects will be regulated under the existing legislation of the country.
Covering an expansive area of 30,000 hectares, the G4 City special economic zone will be composed of four distinct districts. The Gate City district will serve as the business and financial center, while the Golden District will focus on education and healthcare facilities. The Growing District will cater to innovation, industry, trade, and logistics, and the Green District will be developed as a tourist cluster.
The G4 City project represents a significant step forward for Kazakhstan's economic development and integration into the global market. By leveraging the region's strategic location and capitalizing on the opportunities presented by the new Silk Road, Kazakh officials aim to establish G4 City as a prominent hub for economic growth and tourism.
