The number of car accidents is growing in Kazakhstan, with Almaty, Zhambyl, and Almaty regions leading the list, media reports.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Central Asian country, drivers are responsible for 90% of accidents, making it the most common cause.
Ministry's spokesperson, Aktota Boranova, brought attention to several traffic violations, including speeding, running a red light, and driving in the wrong lane.
Drivers tend to blame poor road conditions for the causes of accidents.
Over 1,500 accidents have occurred in the country's major cities alone. In particular, 218 accidents were committed in the country's capital Astana, leaving nine people dead and 237 injured. Almaty registered 1,197 cases, 25 casualties, and 1,292 injuries. Shymkent recorded 115 cases, 22 deaths, and 142 injuries.
