Recent data published by Kazakhstan's Bureau of National Statistics reveal that the population of the Central Asian country is rapidly increasing, with the 20 millionth inhabitant expected to be born in the country soon, media reports.
Currently, over 19.8mn people reside in the country, with 159,000 children born since the advent of 2023.
According to Bibigul Mirasbek, an expert from the Bureau of National Statistics, the male population makes up 48.8%, while the female population makes up 51.2%.
High birth rates were recorded in Kazakhstan's Mangistau and Turkestan regions and Shymkent, with the lowest rates in North Kazakhstan, Kostanay, and East Kazakhstan regions.
Population data is primarily sourced from the census, regularly updated with information on births, deaths, and migration.
The increase in population is noted in Almaty and Mangystau regions, Shymkent, Almaty, and Astana, while migration outflow continues in 15 out of 20 regions of Kazakhstan.
With large cities becoming centers of economic growth, authorities must focus on developing communal, social, and housing infrastructures to ensure quality growth.
