The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, accused France of supporting Armenian separatism in Karabakh during his speech at the ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement's Coordination Bureau in Baku, RIA News has reported.
"France, falsely positioning itself as a defender of human rights and international law, continues to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries. The recent withdrawal of French troops from Mali and Burkina Faso once again demonstrated that France's offensive neocolonial policy in Africa is doomed to failure. Unfortunately, France is attempting to impose the same corrupt practice in the South Caucasus by supporting Armenian separatism in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, using geopolitical rivalry, foreign military presence, and a colonial policy of orientalism," said Ilham Aliyev.
He further stated that "there is a growing and widely spread racist and discriminatory discourse in France, particularly in the media and on the internet, along with racist and hateful statements from officials and members of the French parliament."
"Apologies to the millions of people whom his predecessor colonized, used as slaves, killed, tortured, and humiliated would not only acknowledge France's historical guilt but also help overcome the consequences of the deep political, social, and humanitarian crisis in which it finds itself after the brutal murder of an Algerian teenager" - added President of Azerbaijan.
