State Statistics Committee publishes data on average prices of ready-made plov on June 2023 across central regions of Uzbekistan. It is reported that the most expensive plov was sold in Tashkent, where one portion cost $2,45. This is followed by Samarkand ($2,20) and Surkhandarya ($2,17) regions. The cheapest plov is sold in Fergana region - starting from $1,68 per portion.
The average prices for one portion of plov, served in plov centers of the regions, are as follows:
Karakalpakstan - $1,82;
Andijan region - $1,94;
Bukhara region - $2,13;
Jizzakh region - $2,03;
Kashkadarya region - $2,11;
Navoi region - $1,78;
Namangan region - $1,73;
Samarkand region - $2,20;
Surkhandarya region - $2,17;
Syrdarya region - $2,03;
Tashkent region - $1,90;
Fergana region - $1,68;
Khorezm region - $1,99;
Tashkent city - $2,53.
Plov Index Rating
The "Plov Index," which provides information on prices of the most popular food products in Uzbekistan, has been introduced since January 2020. When compiling this data, the quantity of ingredients used to prepare 1 kilogram of plov in all regions of the country is studied. Consequently, the average cost of one portion of plov is established in catering establishments.
