Uzbekistan's animal rights activists reported a new mass dog poisoning resulting in animal deaths, now in Fergana, media reports.
The Mehr va Oqibat Animal Protection Society has received a statement from witnesses stating that the animals were killed at the Animal Detention Center in the Fergana Improvement Authority. According to witnesses, dogs are always persecuted here, but proving it as isolated cases was impossible.
However, on June 19, animal rights activists witnessed many dogs dying in severe agony.
"We are tired of looking at it. We invest our time, energy, and money in these animals. In the end, our work was mixed with the blood of the murdered animals!", the volunteers said.
The animal rights activists appealed to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the General Prosecutor's Office, and Fergana's city mayor with a request to punish the culprits and ban the use of poisonous substances that destroy homeless animals.
The penalty under Article 11 Part 2 of the Code of Administrative Liability (cruel treatment of an animal resulting in death or injury) envisages a fine of up to ten fundamental values or administrative arrest of up to 15 days.
As Daryo has previously reported, at least twenty-five dogs were slaughtered in one of the private houses in the Tashkent region; the volunteers of 'Mehr va Oqibat,' the local animal protection society, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs employees received complaints from those living nearby the slaughterhouse.
